Owen Sound Municipal Non-Profit Housing Corporation is a proud participant in Ontario Power Generation’s Power for Change Project, supporting grassroots initiatives in the communities where OPG operates.

The Empowerment Grant support has allowed us to host seven community BBQs across our housing sites, providing residents with the opportunity to enjoy good food, socialize, and connect with their neighbours. These events also welcomed community partners such as the Victorian Order of Nurses (VON), Home and Community Support Services (HCSS), Canadian Mental Health Association (CMHA), Owen Sound Public Library, Durham (West Grey) Public Library, Public Health, Keystone Child, Youth and Family Services, and the Owen Sound Police Service, helping residents learn about local supports and resources available to them.

This support also made it possible for us to offer children and youth programming through the Inside Out Program, which brings together local police officers and students from the Youth in Policing Initiative. This program fosters positive relationships between youth and police while offering healthy lunches and snacks, fun activities, and learning opportunities about safety and healthy decision-making.
